Vacation Planning – not what it used to be

We are planning our vacation. It is not as easy as it used to be. We have a 240 pound Rottweiler that very intimidating and very protective of me. He is my baby. He is also in touch with alerting me to my seizures.

He hasn’t completed his off the leash training. He keeps getting kicked out because he has an attention issue. As in I think he has A.D.H.D. or at least the canine version of it. Because he hasn’t completed the off the leash training, he cannot be my official service animal. Therefore he cannot travel with us.

Bring in the protective of his house, yard and territory issue.

We want to get away for five days. We are stuck between whether it is Hawaii, San Diego, Mariana Islands, Guam, the Virgin Islands,  Puerto Rico, Samoa, San Francisco or Tahoe. There are pros and cons of each one of course. I love the Mariana Islands. I love Guam. I love Hawaii. I love them all.

We can’t take Zeus because he can’t behave for the entire flight. He can’t behave and we know there will be an issue with him being a rot and being so big. However, we have no one he has socialized with either. He is such a peculiar dog.

He is attached at the hip to me. He sleeps on the bed with me, at the foot of the bed. If I am about to have a seizure, he will literally come up and sit with his body almost on top of me. It is crazy. If I am at the office or we are away from the house, he will literally make me sit down, and sit on my lap. Crazy but awesome.

However, he doesn’t trust anyone and barks at everyone who comes near me or the vehicle or the property. So to have someone feed him or play with him or water him or stay with him while we are on vacation would be impossible. I have no clue what to do.

We want to go on vacation. But we don’t know what to do with our 240 pound fur son.
